Princess Dresses

For her birthday Emily got pink princess dresses for herself and Ashlyn. They are velvet on top and sparkle netting on the skirt and soooo cute. I have a feeling I won't be able to get them to wear anything else to church for months!

Ellie is 18!

Yes, our 3rd February birthday - on the 22nd. I just can't believe I have a child who's now a legal adult. How did that happen? Every time we look at her college course catalog I feel so old. Time flies when you're having fun!

Her birthday picks:

cereal - honey oat granola

dinner - lasagna

cake - chocolate chip bar cookies

gifts - a trip to Deseret Book with dad to pick out whatever books and cd's she wants

Happy Birthday you gorgeous woman you!

Chopsticks

Last Saturday I brought Teriyaki Chicken home for dinner. Usually just Tim and I and the older girls use chopsticks, but for some reason that night Ashlyn insisted on using chopsticks too. It was so cute! After awhile and a couple of demonstrations, she actually got pretty good at it. Although it did take her awhile to eat her dinner!

Lexie Turns 15!

Yes, another February birthday. On the 20th Lexie turned 15. We actually had our family celebration a couple of days early because she was gone to a youth conference for our church on her birthday - where she got to go on a dinner and dance cruise on Puget Sound! What a great birthday for her!

Her birthday picks were:

cereal - Yikes! I can't remember!

dinner - fried chicken and potato salad

gifts - a new digital camera

cake - chocolate and vanilla pudding cake. So yummy!

Happy Birthday sweetheart!

Girly Girl?

Usually, Emily is as girly as they come. She loves all things princess, Polly Pocket, Barbie and pink. She even requested we paint her bedroom pink in the new house. However, on this day, she claimed to be Spider Man for the entire day. She even swiped Marq's Spider Man costume and wore it. Funny girl!

Green Beans!

Don't you just love this face? This is what Ashlyn looks like when she has to eat her green beans. Thank goodness she likes other vegetables!

The House on Feb. 16th

Here it is with the stone on the front. I really like the color of the river rock we chose. The body of the house will be yellow with white trim and the big front door (it's 8' tall and 3 1/2' wide) will be red. I'm also considering shutters in either red or black. The interior shot is from the back of the family room looking across the family room and into the kitchen and nook area. They're now done drywalling and will be texturing and painting all of the interior this week. I can't wait to see it!

Emily's 5th Birthday!

On February 15th Emily turned 5. I can't believe she's that old already! I still remember the day our adoption agency tracked us down at church to tell us that our baby had been born. Obviously there were many LDS workers at the agency we were using because they knew right where to find us on a Sunday morning! We were originally planning on flying down (she was born in Utah) the next week for her birth but she decided to come a bit early. We were thrilled that baby and birth mom were healthy and fine. Next came the challenge of finding childcare for our 6 at home a week before we thought we needed it. Thanks to lots of great supportive friends everything worked out and the next day we were in Utah meeting our beautiful baby daughter. Happy Birthday angel girl!

For her birthday picks Emily chose:

cereal - Lucky Charms

dinner - spaghetti

cake - chocolate with chocolate frosting

gifts - everything princess! Jewelry, dresses, capes, gloves, etc. And a Polly Pocket, of course!

Emily Lost Her 1st Tooth

I can't believe it, but Emily is starting to lose her baby teeth already! She bit down on a fruit and cereal bar and out came her tooth. It happened while I was gone and when I got back she was jumping up and down with excitement. She kept saying "It didn't hurt mommy! It didn't hurt!" I can't believe that one of my babies is growing up so fast. Where has the time gone?

Groceries

Here is what a very quick run into the grocery store looks like for us. This was just enough to tide us over for a couple of days until I could do a big grocery trip. We eat an insane amount of food. Here are some weekly averages for us:

8 gallons of milk

10 loaves of bread

5 pounds of shredded cheese

60 tortillas

30 - 40 pounds of fresh fruit and veggies

6 dozen eggs

And the list goes on and on. I spend about 10 hours a week food shopping. I have many friends with much larger families than mine who go through much more food than we do, but it sure feels to me like we eat tons of food!

The House

Here is what it looked like a couple of weeks ago. We finally have all our fixture, floor, counter top, paint, etc. selections made. I also designed the kitchen a couple of weeks ago as well. It's exciting to see it coming together. The current done date is late April, but with building you just never know. I visited today and they're finished siding and are putting on the river rock. I think it's going to look great!
